Mercury Retrograde Is Coming: Here’s Why It’s Not the End of the World!

Updated: Aug 5

# Embracing the Mercury Retrograde: A Journey of Reflection and Growth

July 18th, 2025, mark it down. Mercury is about to go retrograde, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably already hearing the collective groan echoing across the spiritual community. I get it. Tech glitches. Missed texts. Exes crawling out of the underworld. But before you grab your sage and start canceling your plans, I want to invite you to look at this differently. This isn’t chaos. It’s recalibration. This isn’t a curse. It’s a cosmic checkpoint.

What Is Mercury Retrograde Really?

Let’s strip away the fear-mongering and just get honest. Mercury governs communication, technology, travel, and how we think. When it “goes retrograde” (which is really just an optical illusion from Earth), it’s not actually going backwards but it feels like things are rewinding, glitching, or slowing down.

And maybe that’s the point. Mercury Retrograde is the Universe’s way of asking: “Have you been rushing past what really matters?” You can’t receive if you’re not present. You can’t align if you’re distracted.

This One Hits Different

This retrograde starts in Leo and moves into Cancer, and let me tell you, the medicine is personal this time. Leo lights up the heart. Cancer touches the womb space of memory. This isn’t just about tech delays or revisiting your inbox. It’s about revisiting the emotional truth beneath the surface.

  • Are you still speaking from your heart, or have you been dimming your voice?

  • Are you craving home, safety, or softness but running on fumes instead?

  • Have you been ignoring that inner child who just wants to be held?

This retrograde wants to bring us home to ourselves, our real desires, and the conversations we’ve been avoiding.

5 Things to Actually Do During Mercury Retrograde

  1. Back up your files, yes, but also back up your dreams. Revisit that thing you dropped months ago because “life got in the way.”

  2. Speak slower. Listen deeper. Miscommunication happens when we rush. This is your permission to pause.

  3. Forgive without reopening the door. Not every ex deserves a reply, but maybe your heart deserves closure.

  4. Declutter your digital life. Inbox, apps, energy drains—clear what’s been weighing on your nervous system.

  5. Honor what’sreally coming up.* If emotions are bubbling, don’t bypass them. Feel it. Journal it. Cry it out. That’s sacred, too.

My Personal Truth

I’ve lived through enough of these to know: when Mercury retrogrades, it’s not trying to ruin your life. It’s inviting you to rewire it from the inside out. Sometimes that looks like tears. Sometimes it looks like laughing at the fact that your GPS sent you to the wrong Starbucks.

And sometimes… it looks like finding a version of yourself you forgot you were allowed to be. You’re not behind. You are not cursed. You are being realigned.

Final Word: Mercury Retrograde Is a Mirror

If something breaks down during this retrograde, ask: “What belief or pattern is this reflecting back at me?” Let Mercury’s pause be your permission to breathe, reflect, and listen to your own soul whispering:

“This is where you come back to you.” Because Mercury isn’t here to punish you. It’s here to reveal you.

It reveals where your words don’t match your truth. It reveals the relationship that drains you but you keep entertaining. It reveals the dreams you paused, the boundaries you dropped, and the messages you didn’t deliver to yourself. Mercury retrograde slows us down so that we can stop abandoning ourselves in the name of speed.

The Importance of Reflection During Mercury Retrograde

As we navigate through this retrograde, it’s essential to embrace the lessons it brings. This period can be a time of profound growth. Reflection is key. It allows us to understand our patterns and behaviors.

Embracing Change

Change is often uncomfortable. However, it is necessary for growth. Mercury retrograde encourages us to confront our fears. It’s a chance to reassess our goals and desires. Embrace the changes that come your way. They may lead to unexpected opportunities.

Reconnecting with Yourself

Use this time to reconnect with your inner self. Spend time in nature. Meditate. Journal your thoughts and feelings. This is a perfect opportunity to explore your emotions. Understanding yourself better will help you navigate the challenges ahead.

Building Stronger Relationships

Mercury retrograde often brings up past relationships. It’s a time to reflect on how these relationships have shaped you. Consider what you’ve learned from them. Use this insight to build stronger connections in the future.

Setting Intentions for the Future

As this retrograde comes to an end, take the time to set intentions. What do you want to manifest moving forward? Write down your goals. Visualize your desired outcomes. This will help you stay focused and aligned with your true self.

✨With love and magic,

Marlene Ivette.
